You all may need to pray for Kris. I realized today that she feels like she is taking care of one more kid than I thought. I was sitting at the table with Malachi and Kalvary on my lap. Kris had gone to find Malachi’s pacifier (or nuke as we call it). She came back, walked over to us, and absentmindly shoved it into MY mouth. Always nice to have a good laugh after breakfast.

Above is the beginning of the deer butchering (thank you, Andrew!)…yes, in our garage and then on the kitchen table.

The venison is in the freezer bags…we mostly made burger.

Malachi started crawling really well this past week. Here he is pulling himself up on the dishwasher lid. He can pull himself to a kneeling position. It won’t be long until he’s cruising along furniture. The other little boy in the picture is my little sister’s baby (as in, we used to be in a mentoring relationship back in the day). His name is Kaden and he’s a month older than Malachi.
Let me describe my first real deer hunt to you.
4:30 am: Get up, get ready, drive to Mechanicsburg.
6:00 Eat breakfast then head to the place where Andy Scott (Guy from work) and I were going to hunt.
6:45 Get set up at my spot sitting on the Ground with my back to a Tree. Check time until 7:07, when it was then legal to shoot at deer.
7:28 Shoot deer.
Seriously, I thought this was supposed to be difficult. We had the thing tagged gutted and in my garage by noon on the first day of gun season. Special thanks to Andy for pretty much everything involved in the hunt, except for me actually shooting the deer, and I apologize in advance to anyone who is squeamish over dead animals.
