Malachi is ten months old!

February 21, 2009

It is hard to believe the little bubba is going to be walking soon.  He’ll stand for a while but is still pretty tentative about taking that first step.  The First two pictures are Malachi, followed by one of Kalvary, then Glory at ten months.  You may notice that Malachi has quite the bump in the center of his forehead.  We think he hit it on the corner of the fridge.

1)  Malachi slept from 7:45 p.m. to 6 a.m!  He has never slept that long in his life.

2) Homemade dishwasher detergent:  equal parts Borax and baking soda.  Mix that and then put 2 TBS in the dishwasher with a drop of dish soap.  It’s been working great!  Also, once my jetdry is gone, I’m going to try putting white vinegar in the jetdry spot.

Grandpa died

February 10, 2009

So, last week my grandpa (Kris’ mom’s dad) died.  It’s sad to know that I won’t see him again for a long time and that Grandma will be alone.  It’s happy because he was old ( 88 ) and he was a Christian and he didn’t die suddenly, so he lived a good long life and we all had time to say goodbye.    It was also happy because I (and Ryan and the kids) got to spend so much time with my aunts and uncles and cousins and their kids.  It was really fun to reminisce about Grandpa and how he wasn’t afraid to tell you that you need to watch your weight or how he had such LONG fingers or how you could tell how much he loved Jesus and his family.

One fun story…Kalvary and her second cousin Emily (my cousin Melissa’s daughter) had such a good time together.  At the viewing, we parents couldn’t find them at one point.  It wasn’t that big of a building and he knew almost everyone there, so we just shrugged it off.  They would show up.  Later we found out that Kalvary and Emily had gotten into the viewing line and waited for 15-20 minutes to get up to the casket.  According to Grandma, at the casket they discussed that Grandpa’s feet were in there and here’s his head and hands and then they gave Grandma hugs.  She was so touched by that special moment.
